A special Sunday afternoon performance on October 11, 2026 at 3 p.m. presented by Austin Chamber Music Center at KMFA. It features the beautiful and evocative Franck Violin Sonata in a program in a program titled “The Nightingale’s Sonata.” It includes music, historical photographs, and narration by author Thomas Wolf and is based on Wolf’s comprehensive biography of the 20th-century violinist Lea Luboshutz.

This year’s Henrietta Dilyock Lecture is “The Nightingale’s Sonata,” the remarkable story of Lea Luboshutz and her family told in a concert-lecture format on October 22, 2019 at 7 pm at the Druker Auditorium, Newton Free Library. It includes a live performance of Franck’s sonata for violin and piano, a work Lea and her family championed. Book sales and signing will follow the lecture.

It is the story of legendary Curtis violin faculty member, Lea Luboshutz, and her musical family presented by, her grandson and biographer, Thomas Wolf.  Wolf will take us from the shores of the Black Sea to the great concert halls of Europe and America and recount tales of the early days of Curtis.
